About Charlies 3/4 House

Providing Hope, Stability, and a Path Forward Since 1979

Charlie’s 3/4 House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe, affordable, and supportive transitional housing for alcoholic men in the early stages of sobriety.

Founded in 1979, Charlie’s 3/4 House began with a simple act of compassion—one man opening his doors to a newly recovering alcoholic in need of a place to stay. What started as a single room of refuge has since grown into a long-standing recovery community that serves approximately 200 residents each year, with occupancy consistently above 96%.

Our program isn’t just about having a place to sleep — it’s about restoring dignity and direction. Residents must meet a set of standards that reinforce their commitment to sobriety and self-improvement. To be eligible, applicants must have:

  • Successfully completed a recognized detoxification program
  • Demonstrated a sincere commitment to continued sobriety
  • Expressed a willingness to find and maintain gainful employment
  • Agreed to attend daily Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings

At Charlie’s 3/4 House, we believe that recovery is possible when the right support system is in place. With decades of service behind us, we remain deeply rooted in our founding values of compassion, accountability, and community—empowering residents to take the next steps toward lasting change.
